Red sandalwood Pi Xiu bracelet for attracting wealth
The Noble Genes of Red Sandalwood
- The Symbol of Wealth as the King of Woods: Red sandalwood (Pterocarpus santalinus) grows slowly and takes a hundred years to mature. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was the exclusive wood for the royal family and has long been known as “an inch of sandalwood is worth an inch of gold”. Its deep purple-red color exudes nobility, and its texture is as delicate as silk. When worn and in contact with the skin, it forms a patina, becoming more warm and lustrous the more it is worn, just like the metaphor that “wealth accumulates deeper and deeper”.

The Mythological Origin of Pixiu
- According to the “Records of the Grand Historian – The Five Emperors’ Biographies”, Pixiu is one of the nine sons of the dragon. It resembles a lion with wings and can swallow all things without excreting, so it is regarded as a “treasure – attracting and wealth – gathering basin”. Legend has it that when the Yellow Emperor fought Chi You, Pixiu helped him capture the enemy, and later it was given two names, “Tianlu” (attracting wealth) and “Bixie” (warding off evil spirits). Its typical characteristics are:Â no anus (only taking in and not letting out), a big mouth for swallowing wealth, prominent eyes for looking at wealth, and sharp horns for breaking evil spirits. Its shape is mostly with its head held high and looking forward, which implies “opening up the way to wealth”.
